The Ministry of Holy Cross
The mission of Holy Cross Lutheran Church is to make disciples by connecting families to Christ and each other, nurturing faith, and serving in Christian love.
There’s more to Christian faith than just knowing that your sins are forgiven. Jesus clearly encourages us to continually grow in our faith and discipleship. At HCLC, we call this Faith Life, and it has three parts: Connect, Nurture, Serve
CONNECT
Worship
Our Classic Praise Worship, which is an open and welcoming blend of traditional forms and contemporary elements is held every Sunday morning at 8:30 AM and 10:45 AM.
Creative Praise Worship is an interactive worship led by a Praise Band with multimedia held at 11:00 a.m. every Sunday in the Gymnasium
Our New Song Contemporary Worship, which is casual and includes our Praise Band and multimedia is held every Saturday night at 5:30 PM.
We’re connected to God and to each other through:
Saturday
5:30p
Sunday
8:30a
10:45a
11:00a
Small Groups
Small groups are designed to develop relationships and fellowship with other Christians. Usually 6 to 12 people who meet on a regular basis (for about 90 minutes), our small groups study God’s word, provide care for one another, and connect God’s Word to their daily lives.
To help you in this step, our Faith Life Encourager, Kent Scheiwe, can schedule time to meet with you, answer your questions, and connect you with the worship and small group opportunity that fits you best.
NURTURE
Once we connect, it’s critical that we nurture and grow our faith.
Bible Study
Offered on Sunday at 9:45 AM and throughout the week (morning, noon and night!) HCLC Bible Studies are the primary way of deeping and maturing your faith in God.
Sunday School
Offered on Sunday at 9:45 AM, our Sunday School program helps children grow in their walk with God.
Genesis
Genesis Midweek Christian Education Ministry is designed for children in grades 1-6 and offered every Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM during the school year, Genesis is a fun, engaging, midweek Christian education event.
Junior Confirmation
Designed to prepare our 7th and 8th grade students for responsible membership in the Church and to confess the faith they received in their baptism, Junior Confirmation meets every Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM during the school year.
Youth Ministry
Youth Ministry is a fun, involving, growing experience to help young people in middle school and high school grow in their love for God and each other.
Summer Day Camp
A 6-week program during the summer (June & July) that is filled with many fun and exciting learning activities and Bible stories, for children ages 3 through Kindergarten.
Preschool & Elementary School
We believe that parents have the primary responsibility (and privilege) to provide Christian instruction and training for their children. Our Preschool and Elementary Schools, open Monday through Friday during the school year strengthen and support parents by assisting in nurturing children’s spiritual, intellectual, social, physical and emotional needs.

To help you in this step, a Director of Christian Education can meet with you on the phone or in person to answer your questions and involve you and your whole family in nurturing programs to grow your faith.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
A week-long experience from children ages 3 through 4th grade, filled with Bible lessons, crafts, signing games and fun.

SERVE
It is natural for Christians to respond to God’s love by serving others. In doing so, we also grow in our own faith as we see God’s work through our hands.
Worship & Operational Volunteers
There are as many ways to volunteer your time to help Holy Cross as there are talents given by God to our members. We put these talents to use for the benefit of fellow believers and for the growth of the kingdom of God.

BE the Church Community Volunteers
Our core principle: don’t just go to Church, BE the Church! Holy Cross members do God’s work through an array of community and world volunteer opportunities.

To help you in this step, a Volunteer Care Coordinator can meet with you on the phone or in person to answer your questions and let you “test drive” your choices of volunteer opportunities, both inside and outside the Church.
Music
Lutherans are noted for their rich musical heritage and often have been referred to as “The Singing Church.” Luther himself loved music and was responsible for writing many hymns which are still being sung today. Music is a great way for participants and listeners alike to connect to God.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers are members of Holy Cross who have gone through 50 hours of training in providing high-quality Christian care to individuals experiencing a crisis or challenge such as: divorce, grief, loss of a job, hospitalization, relocation, or loneliness.

Missions
Our desire to serve others goes well beyond our Church and community into the world around us.

5K Run/Walk
Every year Holy Cross operates the “Neighbors Sharing with Neighbors” 5K Run/Walk to benefit The Sharing Place.

Sharing your Faith
There comes a time for every Christian where there is an opportunity to share your faith. Here’s what to do.
