At Holy Cross we believe that small groups are one of the best ways to build community. In our small groups you will have the opportunity to develop relationships and fellowship with other Christians on your journey to follow Jesus.
You will develop the kind of love Jesus called us to, when He said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12)
There are many types of groups that offer a multitude of interests and functions. A small group is a wonderful place to discover your spiritual gifts and God’s purpose for those gifts. Our lives are such shared learning experiences and we need each other’s support. In a small group you can find the support you’re seeking.
Small Groups are designed for nurture, service and outreach. Small groups are usually from 6 to 12 people who gather around a common purpose of serving each other, the congregation and the community by sharing the love of Christ in word and deed. They meet on a regular basis to study God’s Word, provide care for one another and connect God’s Word to our daily lives.
Generally, groups gather about 90 minutes in a location that enables the dynamics of interaction and relationship building to be at work.
Small Groups have three main purposes:
- Growth
A Small Group will help you grow as a devoted and mature follower of Jesus.
- Care
In a Small Group, you will get to know and care for other Christians. You will develop the kind of love Jesus called us to, when He said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12).
- Make Disciples
Small Group participants strive to invite others to visit their group, and as they see through the group what it is like to follow Jesus, the Holy Spirit can use this experience to bring them to faith in Jesus.
You are welcome to be involved in any of our Small Group experiences! We have nearly 300 people involved in Small Group Ministry in over 20 groups. You do not need to be a member of Holy Cross to be involved - these groups are open to everyone!
